Late Heartbreak for Valiant

October 26, 2014

In the first game of the U10s league Greenhill made their way to Victoria St looking for a win to start the season, however for the first 20 minutes of the game they where well and truly on the back foot as Tintwistle dominated and deservedly led 1-0 until a penalty miss changed the game. First of all Mohammed Subhan was adjudge to have fouled the oncoming centre forward, although from the side view contact looked minimal, but from the referees position he had to give it. The resulting penalty stuck firmly hit the bar and came out this kicked the U10s into gear and they dominated from that point forward with Horris Banda and Safiyan Aslam stellar in their performance. It wasn’t until the second half when the U10s levelled through Taqi Muhammad’s goal that this was shown on the scoreboard. Although the scores didn’t stay level long as Tintwistle countered and scored a 2nd completely against the run of play before Nakeeb Esah equalised for a 2nd time 5 minutes before the end. As the U10s tried desperately to hold on they where dealt a devastating blow when Tintwistle scored with the last kick of the game, which sent their supporters ecstatic. It was an undeserved goal for Tintwistle and the lads can be very proud of a great performance that didn’t deserve the result given to them but it is a learning experience and the motto going forwards should be onwards and upwards…
